Açaí is a small dark berry from palm trees in the Amazon, mostly the state of Pará in Brazil. Rio made it famous as açaí na tigela: açaí in a bowl, blended frozen and eaten with a spoon.
Say it like Brazil ah-sah-EEPacked with anthocyanins and polyphenols, the plant compounds behind its deep purple colour.
Contains oleic acid (omega-9), the same healthy fat found in olive oil, plus omega-6.
